A wet atmosphere prevailed at Kristianstad for the Final of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy. If it wasn’t raining, it would have just stopped or it was about to come back. In any case, it was a race on rain tyres on a wet track.
Having chosen to start from the outside line, Dan Allemann (CHE) had a lead of over 7 tenths over Fedrick Flood-Engebretsen (NOR). Fausto Arnaudo (ARG) was 3rd, Reaan Dharmadasa (LKA) 4th and Gilles Herman (BEL) 5th. Turner Brown (USA) followed in 6th place ahead of Fedor Sedelnikov and Lilian Soares (FRA). Jakub Gasparovic (SVK) didn’t get off to a great start and was 12th. Allemann, who had set the fastest time, soon got away by more than a second. Herman was soon back in the top three and Soares was back in 7th. Gasparovic was 10th after five laps. Allemann continued to rack up tenths with the regularity of a metronome until he was 2.2 seconds down at the halfway mark. The young Swiss rounded off his faultless weekend in Sweden with another very convincing victory. This time he was 3.6″ ahead of the new champion Herman. Flood-Engebretsen finished 3rd ahead of Dharmadasa and Brown with Soares in 6th place.
