The rain had made its appearance in the Swedish landscape and the damp track was drying out during the last two Qualifying Heats of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy.
Heat C-D: First win for Burnard
There was a lot of overtaking on wet tyres from the first lap. Fedor Sedelnikor took the lead, while Nojus Stasionis (LTU) and Fausto Arnaudo (ARG) dropped back. Erik Poulsen (SWE) then took the lead from Kian Burnard (GBR). Micah Vino Satrio (IDN) was 4th ahead of Ivonn Simeonova (AUT). Jakub Gasparovic (SVK) launched a last-chance comeback. Burnard took the lead with two laps to go and won 1.4″ ahead of Poulsen, who was then penalised and dropped back to 10th. Gasparovic regained 2nd place after moving up 13 places. Sedelnikov finished 3rd ahead of Stasionis and Simeonova.
Heat A-B: Allemann wins
Aleix Pineira Rusinol (ESP), Turner Brown (USA) and two other drivers came to a halt on the formation lap, trapped by the poor grip, even though all the drivers were on slicks. Dan Allemann (CHE) led comfortably on the first lap ahead of Lilian Soares (FRA) and Gilles Herman (BEL). Joel Taipale (FIN) had moved up eight places to 4th ahead of Reaan Dharmadasa (LKA). At the halfway stage, the gaps were well marked with Allemmann 2” ahead and Soares 2.4”. Herman made a small mistake and fell to 6th place. Fedrick Flood-Engebretsen (NOR) took P3 ahead of Dharmadasa. Allemann took a well-deserved victory 2.4″ ahead of Soares. Flood-Engebretsen secured 3rd place, followed by Dharmadasa and Taipale. Herman remained 6th.
