The weather was fine and fairly warm early on Friday afternoon at Kristianstad for Qualifying Practice for the FIA Karting European Championship – OK, which brought together 94 drivers.
Session 1: Pesl – 48”753
Jindrich Pesl (CRG/TM) was fastest on lap 2 ahead of Louis Iglesias (CRG/Iame). Pesl confirmed this on the third lap in 48”753. Dmitry Matveev (KR/Iame) followed at 0.125”, then Joe Turney (KR/Iame) 3rd ahead of Iglesias and Noah Monteiro (KR/Iame). Andy Consani (Sodi/TM) finished 8th.
Session 2: Hélias – 48”729
The best times came at the last minute with Jimmy Hélias (KR/Iame) and his third lap in 48”729, provisional pole position under the VictoryLane banner, 0.165” ahead of Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) then Lewis Wherrell (Exprit/TM) at 0.255”, Leo Nilsson (KR/Iame) 4th at 0.433” and Jacob Micallef (KR/Iame) 5th. Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM) finished 5th ahead of David Cosma Cristofor (KR/Iame). Ethan Jeff Hall (CRG/Iame) was 11th ahead of Tom Dussol (CRG/Iame), Pedro Hiltbrand (Birel ART/TM) 14th and Tom Leuillet (Tony Kart/Vortex) 15th.
Session 3: Ramaekers – 48’750
Scott Lindblom (KR/Iame) quickly got down to business on the first lap. Thibaut Ramaekers (KR/Iame) took the lead on the second lap to finish in 48’750, 78 thousandths ahead of his team-mate Fionn Maclaughlin (KR/Iame). Davide Bottaro (CRG/Iame) was 3rd, 0.157 seconds ahead of Joseph Smith (KR/Iame) and Salim Hanna (KR/Iame). Andrea Dupé (KR/Iame) finished 8th behind Kaï Rillaerts (Sodi/TM).
