Jacob Ashcroft (GBR – LN/Rotax) and Matthéo Dauvergne (FRA – Kosmic/Rotax) shared the front row of the RMCIT Junior Max Final at Le Mans, under slightly cloudy skies and a temperature of 27°.
Ashcroft and Dauvergne were close behind at the start, ahead of Ties van Wijk (NLD – Tony Kart/Rotax), Lewis Goff (GBR – Exprit/Rotax) 5th and Cameron Nelson (GBR – LN/Rotax) 6th. Van Wilk first attacked Dauvergne before overtaking Ashcroft for P1 on lap 3. Dauvergne and Ashcroft conceded several places. Goff was 2nd ahead of Nelson. Luka Scelles (FRA – EOS/Rotax) was 4th, then 3rd ahead of Nelson, while van Wijk had a lead of over a second after five laps. Dauvergne was 5th ahead of Ashcroft. The intensity of the battle in the leading group did the trick for the leader, who was more than 3’ clear at the halfway stage. Goff and Nelson were ahead of Scelles, then Ashcroft and Dauvergne 6th. Ashcroft lost ground to Boaz Maximov (NLD – Tony Kart/Rotax), then Dauvergne fell back to 9th behind Oscar Goudchaux (FRA – Alonso Kart/Rotax). Scelles closed to within 3 tenths of Nelson on the penultimate lap. Van Wijk won by nearly 4‘’ ahead of Goff and Nelson, Scelles was less than 2 tenths behind the 3rd-placed driver, Maximov was 5th and Goudchaux 6th after a seven-place climb. Ashcroft finished 10th. Rayanne Bourguignon (FRA – Tony Kart/Rotax) had made up 10 places to 12th.
