Ambitious and determined, Chester Kieffer wasted no time in adding his name to the honours list of the French F4 Championship. From the second round of the 2024 season, held at the Lédenon circuit, the Luxembourg driver climbed to the top step of the podium in a meeting during which he consistently showed his class. His victory in Race 1 was followed by a 2nd place in Race 3, a magnificent pole position and a fastest lap, as well as a fine leap forward in the overall standings.
Fresh from karting, Chester Kieffer seems more determined than ever to play a leading role in this single-seater championship, which reveals the future hopes of motor sport each year. After finishing 10th and 5th in the two races held to open the season at Nogaro over the Easter weekend, the Luxembourger knew that he was capable of climbing even higher up the rankings, and he demonstrated this in brilliant fashion in the south of France.
“The Qualifying session got off to a bad start with a problem with the turbo hose,” says Chester. “I had to pit again. Fortunately, the FFSA Academy mechanics solved the problem, and I was able to attack again and take pole position a few minutes later. The aim was obviously to convert this first place on the starting grid for Race 1 and that’s what I managed to do.”
Chester added panache to the mix, as he proved to be the fastest man on track, managing to extend his lead over his pursuers twice. “The lead I’d built up was wiped out when the car went off. But I managed the restart well and was able to protect myself again from an attack from my rivals.” Forced to start 10th in Race 2 because of the inverted grid, the Luxembourg driver climbed back up to 7th after a solid race, before significantly increasing his points tally again in Race 3.
“I started 3rd this time and got off to a good start to immediately move into 2nd position. My pace was still very fast and I always stayed in the wake of the leader, but trying to overtake proved too risky. In the overall classification, I’ve moved up from 8th to 4th place and I don’t intend to stop there. My excellent overall performance at Lédenon is also the result of the work done with the team at the Winfield driving school and my coach Stéphane Daoudi.”
