By midday on Sunday, the temperature had risen to 33°C for the Final of the European KZ2 Masters Championship at Val Vibrata.
Davide Foré (Birel ART/TM) found himself on the outside of the first corner after contact with Kristijan Habulin (TB Kart /TM) and crashed out to 25th place, while Mirko Mizzoni (ItalCorse/TM) took the lead ahead of Antonio Piccioni (TK/TM) and Riccardo Nalon (Parolin/TM). Andrea Spagni (Birel ART/TM) was 4th, followed by Anthony Abbasse (Sodi/TM), now the Championship leader. The top four were neck and neck, with Abbasse trailing by 7 tenths, but coming back quickly. Foré returned to the pits. Nalon attacked Piccioni for 2nd place. Mizzoni retired due to technical problems. Abbasse moved up to 3rd, which enabled him to maintain his lead in the Championship over Nalon, the new leader. Abbasse gradually closed in on Piccioni, who was 1.2″ behind the leader. Habulin closed the gap on Roberto Profico (Tony Kart/Vortex) and his 5th place. Nalon took a fine victory with a 1.9″ lead over Piccioni, 81 hundredths behind Abbasse at the finish line. But the Frenchman received a 10″ penalty and Spagni took 3rd place ahead of Profico and Habulin. Ludovic Badey (Birel ART/TM) finished 10th ahead of Grégory Leder (Sodi/TM), while Sébastien Leder (Sodi/TM) was 16th. Abbasse finished 7th in the Final, 2nd in the Championship behind Nalon and ahead of Habulin 3rd and Foré 4th.
