The sun was out on Sunday morning at Val Vibrata for the Super Heats of the European KZ2 Championship, with 28° on the thermometer.
Super Heat A: another victory for Orlov
Alessio Piccini (Parolin/TM) was hot on the heels of Maksim Orlov (Parolin/TM) when the lights went out, with Matteo Spirgel (Sodi/TM) 3rd ahead of Maximilian Schleimer (Maranello/TM) and Kasper Schormans (Sodi/TM). Nikolas Roos (Sodi/TM) had moved up six places to 6th ahead of Miguel Costa (Parolin/TM). Spirgel quickly took over P2, a second behind Orlov, with Schormans following in 3rd. Orlov had a 1.4‘ lead at the halfway point, with Spirgel 1.2’ ahead of Schormans. Costa attacked Schleimer for 5th place. Orlov was heading for another victory, 1.9’ ahead of Spirgel, followed by Schormans at 4 tenths. Piccini was 4th, 3 seconds behind Costa. Arthur Poulain (Sodi/TM) had moved up 13 places to 14th, Gabin Leuillet (Tony Kart/Vortex) was 20th +9 places.
Super Heat B: Kajak ahead of Skrivan
Markus Kajak (Maranello/TM) had already overtaken Marek Skrivan (IPK/TM) at the start of the second lap when the slow procedure was triggered following a collision. Daniel Vasile (Birel ART/TM) had moved up to 3rd ahead of Matheus Morgatto (Birel ART/TM). The green flag restarted the race on the fourth lap. Cristian Bertuca (Birel ART/TM) was 4th ahead of Morgatto and Jean Nomblot (Sodi/TM) was 6th ahead of Kirill Kutskov (Birel ART/TM). At the halfway point, the top three – Kajak, Skrivan and Vasile – were separated by just over 2 tenths each. Morgatto was back in 4th ahead of Bertuca and closing on Vasile. Kajak won 2 tenths ahead of Skrivan, Vasile was 3rd at 1.4’ with Morgatto 4th and Bertuca 5th. Nomblot finished 7th, Corentin Rousseau (Birel ART/TM) 11th, Téo Blin (Tony Kart/Vortex) 12th, Tim Locati (Sodi/TM) 15th and Alexandre Gladstein (Birel ART/TM) 30th.
