The weather was sunny on Saturday morning in Val d’Argenton for the OK-Junior Super Heats of Round 2 of the Champions of the Future Euro Series, with temperatures of 14°C and a dry track.
Super Heat 1: Coronel ahead of Lyzen
Sebastien Lehtimaki (Tony Kart/TM) led on the first lap ahead of Kenzo Craigie (KR/Iame) and Dries van Langendonck (Exprit/TM) who was slightly behind. Craigie then moved up to 1st position, with Rocco Coronel (KR/Iame) 3rd and Borys Lyzen (Sodi/TM) 5th ahead of Niklas Schaufler (KR/Iame). Van Langendonck lost places in the fight, 7th behind Jiang Hou Zai (LN/TM). It was very close at the front between Craigie and Lehtimaki, with Coronel hot on their heels. Aloïs Girardet (Energy/TM) was 9th. Lehtimaki regained the lead at the halfway stage. The leading quartet was on fire, with Coronel and Lyzen closing on Lehtimaki at the expense of Craigie. Coronel’s attack on lap 8 sent Lehtimaki back to 4th, within reach of Schaufler. Coronel won by less than 3 tenths ahead of Lyzen, Craigie 3rd, Lehtimaki 4th and Kit Belofsky (KR/Iame) 5th. Schaufler finished 6th, Van Langendonck 7th, Girardet 8th ahead of Iacopo Martinese (KR/Iame). Théo Battisti (Sodi/TM) was 24th.
Super Heat 2: Victory for Sala
Filippo Sala (LN/TM) led the first lap ahead of Kosei Oguma (KR/Iame) and Kacper Rajpold (Tony Kart/TM), followed by Devin Walz (Exprit/TM) in 4th place and Roman Kamyab (LN/TM). Louis Cochet (KR/Iame) retired following a collision with Jarrett Clark (Exprit/TM). Halfway through the race, Kamyab attacked Oguma to close the gap on leader Sala, his team-mate. Joel Pohjola (Tony Kart/Vortex) was back in 4th ahead of Walz and Dean Hoogendoorn (KR/Iame) 6th ahead of Rajpold. Christian Costoya (Parolin/TM) had crashed out in 30th position. Pohjola took P2 while Oguma retired. Walz attacked Kamyab for 3rd place. Sala won by more than 7 tenths because of the intense battle behind him. Walz took 2nd place on the final lap against Pohjola. Kamyab finished 4th, Hoogendoorn 5th. Rajpold finished 6th ahead of Jack Illife (Parolin/TM) and Zijun Zhao (LN/TM).
