Slick tyres were the order of the day at Cremona for the OK Final of the WSK Super Master Series.
3rd on the grid, Noah Wolfe (Birel ART/TM) was unable to get going. The race was on after three formation laps. Gabriel Gomez (CRG/Iame) took the lead from Ean Eyckmans (Birel ART/TM). Oleksandr Bondarev (KR/Iame) held P3 ahead of Gerasim Skulanov (KR/Iame) and Zac Drummond (Parolin/TM), who got off to a good start, followed by Fionn MacLaughlin (KR/Iame) in 6th place. The positions changed rapidly on the second lap with Eyckmans leading ahead of Gomez, MacLaughlin 4th followed by David Walther (Tony Kart/Vortex) and Skulanov 9th. Gomez had regained the lead by the 4th passage. Jimmy Helias (KR/Iame) was making up ground, 9th on lap 6. Gomez went wide just before the halfway point and dropped back to 3rd. Eyckmans regained P1 more than 3 seconds ahead of Bondarev. Very fast, Gomez was back in 2nd position on lap 9, 3.7” behind Eyckmans. The lap times improved with each lap, with the Brazilian holding a steady advantage of around 2.5 tenths. Louis Iglesias (CRG/Iame) had regained his competitiveness and moved up 6 places to 10th. Eyckmans set the fastest time on the 14th of 18 laps to thwart Gomez’s comeback. Iglesias was the fastest man on track. Eyckmans put in a convincing performance to take victory 2 seconds ahead of Gomez. MacLaughlin secured 3rd place ahead of Bondarev and Freddie Lloyd (LN/TM). Hélias finished 8th and Iglesias 9th, with Andy Consani (Sodi/TM) 17th (+5 places). Thomas Quincé (Tony Kart/Vortex) did not finish.
