Alessandro Truchot was reunited with his Parolin / IAME from the Babyrace Driver Academy team on the Franciacorta circuit on the first weekend in April, up against 42 other participants in the Mini Gr.3 category in the first round of the WSK Open Series. After a brilliant meeting, he took another convincing victory, his third in a row.
Alessandro took pole position in Timed Practice with a second lap of 53’206, which will remain the absolute record for the event. He proved to be very competitive, taking victory in the A-B Qualifying Heat, but encountered a few problems in the fierce battles of his other two heats. He finished 9th twice, but was still 5th in the intermediate rankings on Saturday evening.
Determined, Alessandro won Prefinal A on Sunday morning, controlling the race from start to finish. This enabled him to start the Final from 3rd place on the grid. Despite this disadvantageous position on the outside lane, he wasted no time in taking the lead on the second lap. Despite two ‘slow’ procedures and a red flag, Alessandro never lost concentration. He never let go of the P1 and won by 4.5 tenths over his rivals.
With results like these, the young Franco-American is in 1st place with a considerable lead in the provisional WSK Open Series standings. The second and final round will take place from 9th to 11th May on the La Conca circuit. At just 10 years of age, Alessandro has established a positive momentum which could open some very interesting doors for the rest of his high-level career.
